Senior Doctor [Adventure]

Great news: today is the first day of you doing what you love and living a life that you are excited about.

Even if you didn’t have all the training, skills and life experience through surviving the process of Medicine, simply being a living breathing human being gives you the right to do what you’re passionate about.

And with all the assets that have come out of the time you’ve invested in Medicine, the world is literally a blank cheque, waiting for you to be, do and have whatever you want…even if it has nothing to do with Medicine.

Sadly, many Senior Doctors feel trapped or institutionalised, incapable of doing anything except what they’re doing right now.

This is a limiting belief that isn’t based on reality. It’s just something that has been quietly instilled in you as a means of control.

You have so much to offer the world, so many transferable skills and amazing training in how to engage with humanity with empathy and insight.

You have super powers that you’ve been trained to ignore/minimise. Super powers that you can use right now to step into a life you’d be thrilled to live.

So this Senior Doctor Adventure is about inspiring you and giving you tactics/scripts/tools to help you go from “here” to “there”.

You are amazing and it’s time for you to do what you love and live a life of fulfillment and purpose.

  • I’ve invested so much time and money in my medical education. I don’t want to give that up.
  • I’m not sure what else I would do. I’ve only ever been a doctor.
  • I’m worried about losing my sense of identity. Being a doctor is who I am.
  • I’m worried about what my family and friends will think. They’ll be disappointed in me.
  • I’m worried about the financial implications. I’ll take a pay cut if I change careers.
  • I’m worried about the security of my new career. Will I be able to find a job that pays well and offers good benefits?
  • I’m worried about starting over. I’ll have to learn new skills and make new contacts.
  • I’m worried about failure. What if I’m not successful in my new career?
  • I’m worried about regret. What if I miss being a doctor?
  • I’m just not sure if I’m cut out for anything else.
